This album includes compositions of the 2016-2017 period, although the whistling in “dead man’s hand” is something I have been enjoying doing since 1994. I should say that all of the tracks have been written having the American desert in mind, but since I have never been to the Wild West, I drew inspiration from images, TV programmes, films and my treasured Lucky Luke. My intention is to express the feeling of escaping into the desert, a state of untroubled solitude, a common human feeling but still a very unique experience to each person. It is probably the same feeling that sparked the idea behind the Burning Man event. Finally, this album is a nostalgic tribute to the exceptional musician, harmonica player, singer and song writer, Alan Wilson (and the “Canned Heat” band), as well as to the eternal artist, composer and trumpet player, Huge Masekela.
